The Brandon/Hill list has been regularly updated since it's original publication in April 1985, and is designed to provide medical librarians with a guide as to their "minimal collection" of books and journals by specialty. In the current list, the authors focus has been to favor newer books, even if this meant that some standard books that have not been revised recently have been dropped. View the full text of the latest list on the National Library of Medicine's PubMed Central.

The complete "Brandon/Hill selected list of print books and journals for the small medical library" can be found in the Bull Med Libr Assoc 2001 April; 89 (2): 131-153.

The Core Collection is now in it's 4th edition, and is scheduled to be updated early in 2003. Compiled by Hugh Hague and the Medical Information Working Party, this book was designed as an international "alternative" to the Brandon/Hill list for use by UK and other non-US libraries. Additional information can be found at the MIWP Website.
